Rescue of 138 Freezing Bats

Clearly a chaotic winter, this one has seen record-low temperatures. In this instance, 138 bats that had fallen from the Waugh Drive Bridge, a popular spot for locals to gather at night to watch bats emerge and fly around, were discovered barely alive. However, because of the extreme freezing temperatures, they were in terrible shape. Thankfully, the Houston Humane Society saved every one of the 138 bats and brought them back to health.

It’s not often that you get to see bats up close, so those who were working that evening at the nonprofit animal rescue were certainly in for a surprise.
