Simple Ways to Save Money, Reduce Waste, and Go Green

Berries Can Remain Fresh If Properly Washed

When you bring a pack of strawberries home, the urge to simply turn on the faucet and let water flow through the container is strong. After that, you can just dive in and start working. However, if you don’t consume the entire box right away, there’s a good chance those berries will spoil in a day or two. We wash our fruits in dilute vinegar for this reason, and then we keep them on top of a wet paper towel to dry. It can make them last up to two weeks longer on the shelf! This will also help the fruit maintain its firmness over time, giving you the crisp, fresh bite you crave even a week later.
