Nicole Avant believes her mother's deathbed words inspired her: "I believe in coincidences"

Nicole Avant, former U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas and wife of Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, comes from philanthropic and Hollywood families.

Avant said her parents were like Archie Bunker and Cleopatra. She added "they got together and made magic" after meeting in the early 1960s when Jacqueline walked the Ebony Fashion Fair catwalk.

The Jacqueline Avant Children and Family Centre, named in her honour this year, continues her legacy. The centre provides physical and mental health care to South Central Los Angeles children and families, Jacqueline's passion.

Maynor confessed to Jacqueline's murder after arrest. He received a 190-year-to-life sentence last April. Avant claimed sadness and healing helped her forgive.
